NPFL: Katsina United bolster squad with 11 new signings

Katsina United have made an early statement of intent ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season, unveiling 11 new players as they look to build on last season's respectable ninth-place finish.

The Changi Boys officially presented the new recruits during a brief ceremony at the club's secretariat inside the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, with Club Chairman and Supervising Coordinator, Surajo Malumfashi, alongside other club officials, in attendance.

Leading the list of arrivals is experienced forward Samson Obi, who joins from Abia Warriors after previous stints with Rivers United. Also strengthening the squad is Michael Ibe, who featured for relegated Remo Stars last season.

In midfield, Ubong Essien makes the switch from Akwa United, signing a two-year contract, while defender Eric Ekpere also arrives to reinforce the backline.

The club has further boosted its attacking options with the acquisition of Cameroonian striker Luis Dadong, whose impressive performances for Wikki Tourists and Kano Pillars last season earned him a move to Katsina.

Between the sticks, Katsina United have secured the services of Kolawole Oladipo and Sierra Leonean goalkeeper Koroma Francis.

Completing the list of new additions are Chinedu Ozor, Joshua Akpan, Emmanuel Bakare, and Abba Musa, as the club continues its preparations for the new campaign.

With a blend of proven NPFL experience and fresh talent, Katsina United will be hoping their latest recruitment drive provides the spark needed to climb higher up the league table in the upcoming season.
