NPFL partners MBI for digital broadcast ahead of 2026/27 season

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has secured a new broadcast partnership with Murphy Ben International (MBI) ahead of the 2026/27 season, with the deal expected to expand access to live domestic league action for fans at home and abroad.

The agreement follows the departure of Propel Sports Africa, which created the need for a new digital platform to ensure NPFL matches remain accessible to supporters.

Under the new partnership, MBI will provide YouTube live-streaming services through the NPFL’s official digital platforms, taking selected league matches directly to mobile phones, televisions, laptops and other internet-enabled devices.

Speaking at the official signing ceremony, NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye said the partnership would help eliminate the challenge of fans being unable to watch league matches.

“There will be no more excuses of ‘I didn’t see the match,’” Elegbeleye said.

He added that MBI’s digital and technical expertise would strengthen the production and distribution of NPFL content, while also helping to tell the stories of the league beyond the action on the pitch.

The agreement was reached after weeks of discussions between both organisations, including meetings in Abuja and a visit by NPFL officials to MBI’s corporate headquarters in Lagos.

For MBI Chairman Murphy Anawana, the partnership represents an opportunity to take the story of Nigerian domestic football to a much wider, global audience.

He said the collaboration would go beyond match broadcasts to cover digital storytelling, promotion, fan engagement and commercial partnerships involving the NPFL, its clubs, players, coaches and supporters.

As part of the arrangement, selected NPFL matches will receive live coverage, while multiple games from each matchday will also be made available through delayed broadcasts on the league’s official YouTube channel.

The partnership is expected to give the NPFL a stronger digital presence and provide fans with more convenient ways to follow the domestic league throughout the 2026/27 season.
