NWFL confirms date and venue for NWFL Nationwide
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has set a fresh date and venue for the much-anticipated 2025 NWFL Nationwide competition.
The tournament will now run from October 10 to 17, 2025, at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja, according to a statement released on Wednesday, October 1, by the league’s Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi.
Shabi revealed that ten teams will contest in the championship, split into two groups of five, describing the tournament as a “critical platform” for ambitious clubs aiming to climb the league ladder.
“The nationwide competition remains a vital platform for clubs across the country to showcase their potential and progress through the league system. We are committed to ensuring it is competitive, transparent, and successful,” shabi said.
The schedule will open with team arrivals and a pre-match technical meeting on October 10, while the action kicks off the following day, October 11. Matches will continue on October 13, 14, 16, and 17, with October 12 and 15 set aside as rest days.
Highlighting the stakes, Shabi emphasized that the top two teams from each group will earn promotion to the NWFL Championship, a reward she described as a “huge motivation” for all participants.
Group A: Osklean FC (Rivers), Rangers Women FC (Enugu), Plateau Queens FC (Plateau), DreamStars Ladies FC (Lagos), C2E Sports Academy (Abia).
Group B: Sporting Angels FC (Rivers), Alexander Queens FC (Enugu), Rosaria Victrix FC (Imo), NAF Queens FC (Abuja), Solo Wonders FC (Akwa Ibom).
Shabi concluded with best wishes for all participating clubs, expressing optimism for an exciting week of women’s football in the FCT.
