NWFL sets November kick off for 2025/26 Premiership season
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially announced November 26, 2025, as the kickoff date for the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season with six team to be relegated at the end, following its Annual General Assembly (AGA) held on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
The gathering brought together key figures in Nigerian football, including Rivers State Sports Commissioner Barr. Chris Green, NFF board member Madam Aisha Falode (representing the NFF President), club chairpersons, league administrators, and members of the media, all reaffirming their shared commitment to driving women’s football forward in the country.
The new season will feature 20 teams divided into two zones of 10,According to the season calendar unveiled during the meeting, the 2025/2026 NWFL Premiership will commence on 26 November 2025 and conclude on 22 April 2026. The Star Match on Matchday One will pit defending champions Bayelsa Queens against Edo Queens, promising a fiery start to the campaign.
Group A includes:
Bayelsa Queens, Adamawa Queens, Pacesetter Queens, Heartland Queens, Ekiti Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Ibom Angels, Castmog Ladies, and Rivers Angels.
Group B features:
Nasarawa Amazons, Confluence Queens, Delta Queens, Sunshine Queens, Ahudiyannem Queens, Dannaz Ladies, Remo Stars Ladies, Osun Babes, Abia Angels, and FC Robo Queens.
Three newcomers, Ahudiyannem Queens, Castmog Ladies, and Pacesetter Queens, will make their Premiership debut after impressive performances in the Championship playoffs.
During the AGA, stakeholders reaffirmed the league’s dedication to professionalism, commercial expansion, and player welfare, with a shared vision to elevate the women’s game both on and off the pitch.
