NWFL throws on doors for 2026 Nationwide season registration

The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has officially set the ball rolling for the 2026 Nationwide season, calling on clubs across the country to take their shot in the league’s third-tier competition.

In a statement released on April 11, 2026, and signed by NWFL spokesman Samuel Ahmadu, the league confirmed that registration payments will open on Monday, April 13, and run through to June 30, giving interested teams a defined window to secure their place.

Clubs looking to compete in the upcoming season will pay a registration fee of ₦550,000. However, Ahmadu noted that teams that featured in the 2025 edition may be subject to additional caution or expulsion fees, which will be communicated directly to affected clubs.

Providing further clarity, NWFL Chief Operating Officer Modupe Shabi reaffirmed that the Nationwide division remains an open gateway for aspiring teams nationwide, offering a structured and competitive platform for growth and exposure on the national stage.

She revealed that the registration process will be executed in phases. While payments will run from April 13 to June 30, the official registration portal will open on May 30 and close on July 10, setting the stage for the new campaign expected to kick off in August.

In line with modern standards, Shabi emphasized that the entire registration process will be conducted strictly online, reinforcing the league’s drive for efficiency, transparency, and accessibility.

To ensure a smooth process, all necessary documents, including club licensing requirements and player registration forms, have been made readily available for participating teams.

Details regarding venues, fixtures, and the full schedule for the 2026 season are expected to be announced in due course, as anticipation builds for another chapter in Nigeria’s growing women’s football landscape.
