Nigeria unveils new kits and squad ahead of 2025 Rugby Africa Sevens Series

As the countdown begins for the 2025 Rugby Africa Men’s Sevens Series in Mauritius, the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation has unveiled the national team’s new kits and 12-man squad for the tournament.

The tournament is set to take place at the Labourdonnais Sports Club from June 21 to 22, with Nigeria drawn in Pool B alongside South Africa, Burkina Faso, and Zambia.

Taking to their official X (formerly Twitter) account, the federation shared photos of the new jerseys with the caption

"Big news! Umbro has officially released the Nigerian Rughby Jerseys for public purchase on their website. Now you can proudly wear the same gear as the Stallions. Get yours and rep Naija rugby in style."

The new kits, produced by English sportswear brand Umbro, come in two designs. The home strip features Nigeria’s iconic green with black accents on the neckline, while the away version is all white, highlighted with green details on the sleeve cuffs a design meant to ensure the team stands out on the pitch.

Both jerseys are now available for purchase on Umbro’s website for £90 and will debut at the upcoming tournament in Mauritius.

Meanwhile, the Stallions have named their squad for the competition, with captain Kitto Oliver leading a 12-man team that includes Kolade Adedoyin, Gabriel John Etim, Matthew Ilube, Joshua Addams, Tuoyo Anthony Egodo, Oghenesuvwe Obano, Frederick Henry-Ajudua, Richard Adeniyi-Jones, Declan Nwachukwu, Isa Omale, and Akeem Yusuf.

Michael Ogunwole and John Tobi Anthony have been named as reserves.

Under the guidance of coach Steve Lewis, Nigeria will compete against 11 other top African nations including Kenya, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Tunisia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Zambia, and hosts Mauritius.

The stakes are high, as the winner of the tournament will earn qualification for the 2025 World Rugby Sevens Challenger Series.
