Paris FC coach refuses to explain Moses Simon’s limited playing time
Paris FC manager Liam Rosenior has refused to explain Super Eagles winger Moses Simon’s reduced playing time this season, leaving uncertainty over the Nigerian international’s role ahead of Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash with AS Monaco.
Simon has struggled to secure regular minutes under the English manager, featuring in just six league matches this season, with only one start and a total of 166 minutes on the pitch.
The situation represents a significant decline from the previous campaign, when the 30-year-old featured in 29 Ligue 1 matches for Paris FC, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
His limited involvement has raised questions about his standing in Rosenior’s plans, particularly as the club prepares for a difficult away fixture against Monaco.
During Friday’s press conference, Rosenior was asked about Simon’s situation, alongside the availability and involvement of teammates Omar Sissoko and Jean-Philippe Krasso.
However, the former Chelsea coach avoided giving a direct explanation, instead offering a brief update on the players whose availability remains uncertain.
“All I can say is that 50% of these players will be in the squad on Sunday,” Rosenior said, according to reports from French newspaper L’Équipe.
He added: “There are still many questions. This isn’t meant to be disrespectful to the journalists or the fans. We have a good squad.”
Rosenior further explained that his priority was to select the strongest possible team, with several options available to him.
“We’ll choose the best team to start and finish as strongly as possible in Monaco. There are many options,” he said.
The manager’s response has done little to clarify whether Simon’s reduced role is connected to tactical considerations, competition for places or other factors.
The Nigerian winger joined Paris FC from Nantes in July 2025 and previously established himself as an important attacking option in French football.
His current situation, however, presents a challenge as he seeks to regain regular playing time and maintain his influence at club level.
Sunday’s encounter with Monaco offers another opportunity for Simon to feature, although Rosenior’s comments suggest that selection decisions will depend on the options available to the Paris FC manager.
