Private vendors cash in on crowd at Customs Premier Volleyball League in Abuja
Private business operators are recording brisk sales at the ongoing Third Edition Customs Comptroller General Premier Volleyball League, currently taking place at the Indoor Hall of the National Stadium Abuja in Abuja.
On Thursday, the fourth day of competition, more traders were seen arriving at the venue to take advantage of the steady flow of spectators, athletes, and officials who have continued to throng the stadium since the tournament began.
An on-the-spot visit by our correspondent revealed a growing marketplace within and around the venue, with several business owners actively displaying and selling their goods.
Food vendors dominated the commercial activity, enjoying strong patronage since participants and officials arrived on Sunday. Other traders were also seen selling sportswear, casual and corporate clothing, as well as household items.
One of the food vendors, who identified herself as Mummy John, said her experience at the venue has been highly rewarding despite the prevailing economic challenges.
“We thank God that despite the economic situation in the country, I have been doing very well here. There are times I have to cook more than twice in a day to satisfy the demands of those coming to eat,” she said.
Marketing representatives from several banks were also present, actively engaging participants and encouraging them to open accounts with their institutions.
The Third Edition Customs Comptroller General Premier Volleyball League, which commenced on June 13, is scheduled to run until June 28, 2026. The competition features 26 teams drawn from across Nigeria, comprising 13 male and 13 female teams.
As the tournament progresses, stakeholders expect continued excitement both on the court and in the lively commercial activities surrounding the event at the Third Edition Customs Comptroller General Premier Volleyball League.
