COAS Spikers extend unbeaten run in CG Premier Volleyball League
Table-topping COAS Spikers continued their impressive winning streak at the third edition of the Customs Comptroller General (CG) Premier Volleyball League 2026 with a commanding 3-0 victory over Police Machines on Thursday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Abuja.
In the fifth men's match of the day, the COAS Spikers showcased their dominance, overpowering a determined Police Machines side in straight sets to maintain their perfect record in the competition.
Although Police Machines put up a spirited fight, they struggled to contain the attacking strength and intensity of the league leaders, who controlled the match from start to finish.
The COAS Spikers claimed the opening set 25-22 before raising their level to comfortably take the second set 25-16. They sealed the victory with a 25-20 win in the third set.
Speaking after the match, COAS Spikers head coach, Elishama Elam, expressed gratitude for his team's flawless run so far in the tournament.
"First and foremost, I thank God for making it possible. The players are determined and eager to make a statement in this competition," Elam said.
"I hope they can sustain this momentum. We have only just started and there are still eight matches to play. My prayer is that we remain injury-free throughout the campaign."
The coach attributed the team's success to discipline and strict adherence to instructions.
"We always have pre-match meetings and the players understand why they are here. Unlike before, I talk less now because they know the task ahead. They are here for business, and I just pray they continue in the same spirit," he added.
Looking ahead, Elam remained optimistic about his side's chances of lifting the title at the end of the league.
"Every coach comes into a competition with the aim of winning. That is my prayer as well, and I trust that God will grant us victory at the end of the season," he said.
The latest triumph further strengthens COAS Spikers' position at the top of the standings as they continue their quest for league glory.
