Ranchers Bees fined 5 million Naira over Rivers United incidents
Ranchers Bees FC have been fined a total of N5 million for multiple breaches of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Frameworks and Rules following their Matchday 6 fixture against Rivers United.
The club has also been ordered to identify, by Thursday, October 1, a player captured on video physically attacking a Rivers United player. The player will face disciplinary action.
In a summary jurisdiction decision issued after the match, the NPFL cited Ranchers Bees for breaches of Rules B13.52, C1.1 and C9. The decision was signed by the NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Ayo Abdulrahman, and dated September 29.
The club was fined N2 million for failing to provide adequate and effective security at the home fixture, which allowed unauthorised persons to gain access to restricted areas of the stadium, contrary to Rule B13.52.
Ranchers Bees were also sanctioned under Rule C1.1 for failing to restrain some players and bench officials who intimidated, threatened and harassed match officials on the field of play. The breach, which the NPFL said amounted to conduct capable of bringing the game into disrepute, attracted a N1 million fine.
Another N1 million fine was imposed for failing to ensure the proper conduct of supporters who allegedly attempted to attack match officials, in breach of Rule C9.
The club was handed a further N1 million fine for the alleged holding of match officials hostage after the match.
The NPFL, citing Rule C26 of its Frameworks and Rules, directed Ranchers Bees to either accept the sanctions or elect in writing to have the matter heard by a Disciplinary Panel within 48 hours of receiving the notice.
The fines are to be paid within seven working days after the expiration of the appeal period.
