South-East FA Chairmen back NFF Electoral Process
The forum of Chairmen of the South-East Football Associations has lent her voice in the recent call for unity, understanding and stability in the administration of football in Nigeria. This is sequel to the background of the rumoured reports of a purported cancellation of the NFF Executive Election slated for 27th September 2026 at Nassarawa State and the call for a Normalization Committee to oversee the affairs of the Federation.
The forum, aware of the recent developments with regards to the worrisome results by some of our national teams, is of the firm belief that recourse to undemocratic approach will invariably cause more harm going forward. Whilst the forum is not aware of any communication or directive from FIFA asking anybody or institution to set up a Normalization committee or such related body thereof, the forum cautions on the negative consequences of undue interference in the administration of football in Nigeria. The forum is aware of the effort of the leadership of the NFF in setting up a fact-finding committee to look into the immediate and remote causes of the failure of our senior national teams to qualify for the world cup. The forum is in total support of such initiative. The forum recognizes the effort of Congress at tinkering with certain grey areas of the existing NFF statutes based on the directive of FIFA. This is courageous and commendable. The South-East forum is of firm belief in democratic processes and procedures in line with the statues governing administration of football. It is totally uncalled for to cut off the nose in order to spite the face.
The forum of South-East Football Association Chairmen has and will continue to be in support of legitimate processes geared towards fostering of peace, unity and development in our football administration.
