Taangahar names 16 players for Nigeria's debut at IHF Women's Nations Trophy
Coach of Nigeria’s Senior Women’s Handball National Team, Michael Taangahar, has announced the final 16-player squad for the inaugural IHF Women’s Nations Trophy Africa Zone III Championship in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from September 2 to 6, 2026, with Nigeria set to begin its campaign against Ghana on Thursday, September 3, before taking on hosts Burkina Faso in their second group match on Friday, September 4.
The Nigerian team has been undergoing intensive preparations at the Indoor Sports Hall, Package B of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, where Taangahar and his technical crew have been working with the players for several weeks.
As part of their final preparations, the team is expected to travel to Benin Republic for a series of friendly matches before proceeding to Burkina Faso for the championship.
Taangahar will be assisted by Innocent Chukwuma Nwankwo as Assistant Head Coach as Nigeria seeks to make a strong impression at the maiden edition of the competition.
