U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles arrive Cairo for friendly against Young Pharaoh

 

The Flying Eagles, Nigeria's U20 football team, have landed in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, as they prepare for the 17th Africa U20 Cup of Nations finals, which kick off on Sunday. 

 

A group consisting of 24 players and nine officials, led by Head Coach Aliyu Zubairu, arrived at Cairo International Airport on Sunday evening via an Egypt Air flight. 

 

The team is staying at Jewel Sports City and Aqua Resort and is scheduled to hold their first training session on Monday evening.

 

In the meantime, the Flying Eagles will face the host team, the Young Pharaohs of Egypt, on Tuesday evening as part of their preparations for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which runs from April 27 to May 18.

 

The match is set for 5 PM local time (4 PM Nigeria time) at Cairo International Stadium.

 

Nigeria will begin their tournament against Tunisia at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo on Thursday, May 1.

 

The Africa U20 Cup of Nations also serves as a qualifying event for the FIFA U20 World Cup finals, which will take place from September 27 to October 19 in Chile. All four semi-finalists from the tournament in Egypt will qualify to represent Africa at the FIFA U20 World Cup finals.
