Wydad AC welcomes FIFA Club World Cup Trophy Tour in Casablanca
The FIFA Club World Cup 2025™ Trophy Tour arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, with Wydad AC hosting the famous 24-carat gold-plated trophy on April 15 and 16. The visit lasted two days and showcased the trophy at key locations and Wydad’s training grounds. This event marked the club’s participation in Group C, alongside Manchester City, Al Ain FC, and Juventus FC.
The tour is part of FIFA’s preparations for the expanded 32-team tournament starting in June. During the visit, officials and fans celebrated the club’s journey and prospects. Wydad’s head coach Rhulani Mokwena spoke in English, expressing pride in Africa’s presence. He predicted Wydad would perform well in the tournament held in the United States.
Jamal Harkass, Wydad’s captain, shared his excitement in Moroccan Arabic. He looked forward to facing strong teams like Manchester City and Juventus. Forward Mohamed Rahyli also spoke to the media in English. He emphasised the club’s passionate fans and the team’s ambition to show off Moroccan football on the world stage.
Nourredine Naybet, a former Wydad player and Moroccan football legend, praised the club’s history. He expressed hope for a confident run in the tournament. The Trophy Tour began in New York City on January 16. It will visit all 32 teams before the competition starts. Wydad will face Manchester City in Philadelphia on June 18.
