Ademola Lookman is set for a new chapter in his career after Atlético Madrid reached an agreement with Atalanta for his transfer in a deal worth €40 million.

European football journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the package includes a €35 million fixed fee, with an additional €5 million in add-ons tied to performance related clauses.

The move follows Lookman’s decision on Saturday night to choose Atlético Madrid over Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, effectively ending speculation over his next destination.

A long term contract has already been agreed between the Nigerian forward and Atlético, with the Spanish club now making arrangements for his travel and medical ahead of the official announcement.

Lookman heads to Madrid fresh from an outstanding AFCON 2025 campaign in Morocco, where he scored four goals for the Super Eagles and crowned the tournament by converting the penalty that secured Nigeria’s bronze medal.
