Bayelsa Queens land striker Janet Akekeromowei from Nasarawa Amazons

Bayelsa Queens FC has pulled off a major signing ahead of the new season, bringing in red-hot striker Janet Akekoromowei from fellow NWFL side Nasarawa Amazons.

Janet, who lit up the 2024/25 season as the second-highest goal scorer, is set to wear the famous No. 9 jersey for the Prosperity Girls. Her arrival comes at a crucial time, with Bayelsa Queens preparing for the WAFU-B qualifiers, the CAF Women’s Champions League, and another shot at the NWFL Premiership title.

The Nigeria international already has experience on the big stage, having featured for the national team at both U-17 and U-20 levels. Her move to Yenagoa is a big boost for Bayelsa Queens, who are clearly building a squad ready to dominate both at home and across Africa.

Known for her sharp instincts in front of goal and cool finishing, Janet’s signing has excited fans and sent a strong message to rivals.

“I’m excited to join Bayelsa Queens and can't wait to give my best for this great club". She said after sealing the deal

Club officials have described the move as part of a bigger push to attract the best talents and raise the level of women’s football in Nigeria.

With the new season just around the corner, supporters will be eager to see their new No. 9 in action, leading the line as Bayelsa Queens chase more glory.
