Benjamin Tanimu dedicates goal, MOTM award to fallen NAF officers

Nigerian defender Benjamin Tanimu has paid an emotional tribute to Nigerian Air Force officers who lost their lives in the NAF931 jet crash, dedicating his goal and Man of the Match award to the fallen servicemen.

Tanimu delivered an impressive performance on Friday, scoring in the 44th minute to help his team secure a valuable away point against Dodoma Jiji FC in their Tanzania League Matchday Seven encounter.

The Nigerian defender's goal proved crucial in helping his side earn a positive result, while his overall performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

However, beyond the individual recognition, Tanimu used the occasion to honour the memory of the military personnel who died while serving the country.

In a heartfelt message shared on his official X account after the match, the Super Eagles defender dedicated both his goal and individual accolade to the deceased officers, describing their sacrifice as one that would never be forgotten.

“I dedicate this goal and award to my dear friends who FELL IN THE LINE OF DUTY while serving our Fatherland. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Tanimu wrote.

He concluded his tribute with an emotional farewell to the fallen servicemen, adding: “REST WELL, GALLANT HEROES!”

Tanimu's gesture transformed an otherwise memorable football outing into a moment of remembrance for the Nigerian military officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, highlighting the defender's solidarity with the fallen servicemen and their loved ones.
