Nigeria's senior men's national team head coach Eric Chelle has admitted that Nigeria have had limited time to prepare tactically for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Guinea-Bissau.

Super Eagles will take on the Djurtus at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro in Bissau, with both sides aiming to build on their opening-day victories in the Afcon qualifiers.

 After defeating Madagascar, the three time African champions held a recovery session in Uyo on Saturday before returning to training on Sunday. The team subsequently travelled to Bissau, where they completed their final session ahead of Tuesday evening's encounter.

 The final training session also gave the players an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the match venue.

 Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Chelle acknowledged the challenges posed by the limited preparation time available during the current Fifa international window.

 “We didn't have enough training sessions to work a lot. This is the problem with this kind of Fifa window. You have only one or two training sessions to prepare for a match,” Chelle said.

 “After that, you have one or two training sessions to recover, and you have to travel.

 “The most important thing is that we watched the last game and analysed it. If you look at the statistics, you can say we deserved this victory against Madagascar.

 “But the game was not very good. We conceded the first goal, and the game was not easy for us, so this is why I spoke like this.”

 Chelle will also have to contend with fitness concerns ahead of the encounter, with George Ilenikhena a doubt for the match. At least two other Super Eagles players are also expected to undergo late fitness tests before the team finalises its line-up for the clash.
