Comoros coach Abdallah vows to challenge Super Falcons in Olympic Qualifiers
Comoros women’s national team head coach Yusuf Abdallah has vowed that his side will give their best against Nigeria’s Super Falcons, insisting that his players are determined to make the most of their opportunities despite the quality and experience of their opponents.
The first leg of the 2028 Olympic qualifying tie will take place at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Friday, October 9, with kick-off scheduled for 6pm Nigerian time.
Abdallah acknowledged the strength of the Super Falcons but maintained that his team would approach the encounter with determination and a strong desire to secure a positive result.
“It is already an honour to face a team with so much experience and such a high level of quality. We are aware of the challenge that lies ahead and how difficult it will be to overcome it,” Abdallah said.
Despite recognising the challenge posed by Nigeria, the Comoros coach insisted that his players would not be intimidated by their opponents’ reputation.
He said his team would focus on competing strongly and taking advantage of any opportunities that came their way.
“However, we are here to play a serious match and give ourselves the best possible chance by making the most of our opportunities. As you know, in football, a match is never won until it has been played,” he added.
Abdallah described the encounter as an important occasion for both countries, acknowledging that defeat would be disappointing but stressing that his players were focused on fighting for victory rather than dwelling on the possibility of losing.
“It is an important match for everyone, both Nigeria and the Comoros. Of course, if we lose, we will be disappointed, but we are not thinking about defeat.
“We have come here to play a serious match, and we will do everything possible to ensure that the result goes in our favour,” he said.
Comoros will now look to test themselves against Nigeria, one of Africa’s most successful women’s national teams, as they seek a positive result in the opening leg of the Olympic qualifying tie.
