FCC Sports Club Leaders emerged
Peregha Andrew has emerged as the new Sports Manager of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) Sports Club, while Linda Samuel was elected Assistant Sports Manager following a keenly contested election conducted to usher in a new leadership for the club.
The election, which attracted contestants for various executive positions, was conducted under the supervision of FESPGA officials and the FCC Sports Club Electoral Committee led by Mr Rafiu Olasile.
The exercise was described by organisers as transparent, fair and credible, with members given the opportunity to determine the officers who will pilot the affairs of the club for the new tenure.
Andrew defeated Obi Chukwutem Ezekiel in the contest for Sports Manager, while Linda Samuel emerged victorious in the Assistant Sports Manager race against Gift Pardon.
Garba Heman was elected Secretary-General after contesting against Gideon Zubairu, while the Welfare Officer position was won by Ibeleme Ulunma Grace.
Other successful candidates include Yahaya Adamu Ano as Treasurer, Jummai Haruna Nankat as Financial Secretary, Kassam Gombiman Thomas as Public Relations Officer, Nathan Samuel as Assistant Secretary and Bello Hamed Adekunle as Assistant Welfare Officer.
The election brought together members of the FCC Sports Club in what was seen as an important step towards strengthening the administration and sporting activities of the club.
The emergence of Andrew and Samuel at the top of the new executive is expected to usher in a fresh phase for the club, with the new leadership facing the task of consolidating sporting activities, promoting participation and strengthening unity among members.
The defeated contestants were also commended for participating in the electoral process and providing competition for the various positions.
Speaking on the outcome, the electoral process was conducted under the supervision of the FCC Sports Club Electoral Committee, with the organisers emphasising fairness, transparency and credibility throughout the exercise.
The new administration is expected to build on the existing activities of the club while developing programmes that will enhance members’ participation in sports and promote teamwork and welfare.
The new executive will now assume responsibility for steering the affairs of the FCC Sports Club, with members expected to rally behind the leadership and contribute to the achievement of its sporting and welfare objectives.
