Falconets edge FC Robo Queens in friendly ahead of Senegal clash

Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s National Team, the Falconets, underlined their readiness for the upcoming Poland 2026 qualifier with a spirited 2–1 victory over Nigeria Women Premier League side FC Robo in a friendly match played in Ibadan.

The encounter formed part of the Falconets’ preparations for the first-leg clash against Senegal, scheduled for Saturday, 7 February 2026, at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan. The team had arrived in the Oyo State capital on Monday, 27 January, to intensify training ahead of the crucial fixture.

Facing one of the NWFL’s top teams, the friendly offered the technical crew a valuable opportunity to assess the players’ tactical understanding, match fitness, and overall performance under competitive conditions.

Head Coach Moses Aduku expressed satisfaction with the outcome while admitting there is still work to be done. According to him, the match provided useful insights as the team fine-tunes preparations for the Senegal tie.

“We won the game, which is good, but there are still little adjustments to be made ahead of Saturday’s match against Senegal,” Aduku said.

The coach, however, highlighted the team’s mentality as a major positive. He praised the Falconets’ fighting spirit and resilience, noting that their response in securing the winning goal reflected strong character and determination as they push for qualification.
