Super Falcons nominated for 2026 CAF Women's national team of the year award
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been nominated for the Women’s National Team of the Year award at the 2026 CAF Awards.
The 10-time African champions will compete for the accolade against Cameroon and nine other nominated national teams.
The other nominees are Algeria, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Malawi, Mali, Morocco and South Africa.
The nomination comes despite the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup for the first time in the team’s history, following their quarter-final elimination at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The list of nominees is expected to be trimmed to a shortlist ahead of the 2026 CAF Awards ceremony, scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria.
