Flamingos thrash Diamond Stars in ruthless preparatory friendly
Nigeria’s Flamingos stepped up preparations for their upcoming international assignments in emphatic style, recording a resounding 11-0 victory over Diamond Stars Sporting Queens in a one-sided friendly encounter.
The Nigerian youngsters wasted no time taking control, with Mary Dunstan opening the scoring in the sixth minute before Tobi Sarafa doubled the lead five minutes later.
Chisom Emmanuella Chukwuemeka added a third goal in the 12th minute as the Flamingos continued to dominate proceedings.
Dunstan then completed her hat-trick with goals in the 25th and 38th minutes, leaving Diamond Stars struggling to contain Nigeria’s relentless attacking pressure.
Harmony Chidi joined the scoring spree in the 41st minute, sending the Flamingos into halftime with a commanding 6-0 advantage.
Chidi continued her impressive display after the restart, finding the net in the 48th, 57th and 64th minutes to complete her hat-trick and push Nigeria’s tally into double figures.
Koasarat Akanji also got on the scoresheet, while an own goal from Diamond Stars further compounded their difficult outing as the Flamingos completed the 11-0 rout.
The convincing victory will provide a major boost to Nigeria’s preparations ahead of their forthcoming engagements in Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco.
The Flamingos will now look to build on their impressive attacking display as they continue preparations for their upcoming international challenges.
