Nigeria senior women’s national team arrived in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), making a striking entrance that blended elegance, culture and national pride as they prepare to defend their continental crown.

In a historic first for the 10-time African champions, the West African side travelled in specially designed traditional departure outfits, presenting a coordinated cultural identity that reflected Nigeria’s rich heritage while projecting professionalism on the continental stage.

The custom attire, created exclusively for the team’s journey to Morocco, drew admiration from supporters and observers, symbolising the unity, confidence and ambition that define Coach Justin Madugu’s squad ahead of the tournament.

The players, accompanied by the technical crew and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), arrived in Morocco’s capital after completing the final phase of their preparations and are now set to begin their quest for a record-extending 11th WAFCON title.

Beyond making a fashion statement, the coordinated traditional outfits marks the growing emphasis on branding and identity within the Super Falcons setup, reinforcing the team’s status as ambassadors of Nigerian culture and Africa’s most successful women’s national football team.

Nigeria will begin its 14th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign against tournament debutants Malawi on July 28 in Rabat, before facing Zambia and Egypt in their remaining Group C fixtures as they bid to secure a place in the knockout stage.

Having reclaimed the continental title at the previous edition, expectations are once again high for the Super Falcons. Their polished arrival in Morocco not only reflects a renewed sense of purpose and unity but also sends a strong statement of intent as they seek to retain the African crown and further cement their legacy as the continent’s dominant force in women’s football.
