NFF hands Abdu Maikaba, Usejamomere national youth teams role
The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the appointment of experienced tactician Abdu Maikaba as head coach of the Flying Eagles, while Eboboritse Uwejamomere has been named the new handler of the Golden Eaglets.
The appointments were confirmed after the NFF Executive Committee ratified recommendations from the Federation’s Technical and Development Committee, according to a statement released by the Media and Communications Department.
Maikaba returns to Nigeria’s youth football setup with a wealth of domestic experience behind him. The respected coach, who previously handled the Golden Eaglets and also served as assistant coach of the Flying Eagles under Paul Aigbogun, replaces Aliyu Zubair, who exited the role last year.
Known for his calm approach on the touchline, Maikaba has managed some of the country’s biggest clubs including Enyimba, Kano Pillars, Wikki Tourists, and Plateau United. One of the standout moments of his coaching career came in 2017 when he guided Akwa United to Federation Cup glory.
For the Golden Eaglets, the NFF has turned to Eboboritse Uwejamomere, a coach widely respected for his analytical and developmental background in the game. Uwejamomere, who currently leads Creative Championship League side Sporting Lagos FA, succeeds Manu Garba after Nigeria failed to secure qualification for this year’s U17 AFCON in Morocco.
In recent years, Uwejamomere has worked closely with the Super Eagles as a match analyst and also had similar responsibilities with the Super Falcons. His coaching journey has also taken him through youth development roles at English clubs Millwall, Gillingham, and Nottingham Forest, while he previously managed Abeokuta-based Stormers SC.
