NTTF Names Eight Players for ITTF Africa Hopes Challenge in Lagos

The Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) has selected eight cadet players, four boys and four girls to represent the country at the 2025 ITTF Africa Hopes Week and Challenge, set for July in Lagos.

The selection followed a six-day training camp and a two-day tournament at the National Training Centre, National Stadium, Lagos, from April 2 to 7.

Supported by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and ITTF Africa, National Hopes Week provided young athletes with valuable knowledge and experience to aid their development in the sport.

A total of 25 under-12 players from across Nigeria participated in the program, supported by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and ITTF Africa.

In the boys' singles, Samson Joshua (Kogi) defeated Umar Ayoola (Oyo) 4-2, while Elizabeth Emelike (Abia) beat Deborah Faleye (Edo) 4-1 in the girls' final. Lagos-based Juwon Ogunshakin, Habib Adebayo, Semilore Owoiya, and Emmanuella Ahaibu complete Nigeria’s team.
