NWSL: San Diego Wave place Chiamaka Okwuchukwu on season-ending injury list

San Diego Wave FC announced that forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu has been placed on the Season-Ending Injury List after sustaining a lower leg injury.

The 19-year-old will miss the remainder of the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season.

Okwuchukwu joined Wave FC in January 2025 and made an immediate impact, scoring just 1 minute and 32 seconds into her professional debut on March 29 against Orlando Pride.

The goal marked the second-fastest debut goal in NWSL history.

The promising Nigerian forward went on to appear in three matches for the Wave, tallying one goal and logging 144 total minutes before her injury setback.

Wave FC has extended its full support to Chiamaka and promised to continue to provide all necessary resources for her recovery.
