Team Nigeria delivered a commanding performance at the 2025 African Senior Weightlifting Championship in Moka, Mauritius, securing a total of 15 medals 10 gold, four silver, and one bronze on Thursday.

Onome Omolola Didih kick-started the medal haul by sweeping gold in the 55kg category. Rafiatu Folashade Lawal followed with another triple-gold win in the 59kg division, lifting a combined total of 213kg. Ruth Imoleayo Ayodele matched the feat in the 64kg category with an identical total.

 In the men's 73kg class, Umoafia Joseph Edidiong won one gold and two silver medals, while Tuesday Emmanuel added two silvers and a bronze in the 67kg category.

All five Nigerian lifters competing on Thursday reached the podium.

Team Nigeria now lead the overall medal standings and look to extend its dominance on Friday as Sarah Ovayioza Matthew competes in the women’s 76kg category to close the nation’s campaign.
