Oyo State to host Falconets ahead of World Cup Qualifiers against Rwanda

The Oyo State government has approved Ibadan as the base for Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, as they prepare for their crucial FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying clash with Rwanda.

The return-leg fixture is scheduled for September 27 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, and the approval followed the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Acting Governor Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal.

As part of the decision, the council approved ₦110 million to cover logistics, accommodation, feeding, security, and other expenses for the team’s stay in the state.

According to the government, hosting the Falconets will not only provide a conducive environment for their preparations but also inspire local athletes and young talents across Oyo State to pursue excellence at international level.
