Police team confident despite setback at Customs CG Volleyball Premier League

Teams continue their push for dominance at the ongoing third edition of the Customs Comptroller General Premier Volleyball League, with the Police Force male team remaining optimistic despite suffering one defeat in their opening three matches.

Head coach Taiwo Oladipupo said after his side’s victory over Ajase Ipo Volleyball Club on Wednesday at the Indoor Hall, National Stadium, Abuja, that the team is focused on taking each game as it comes.

“As I said, we are going to take all the matches one after the other. This is a league; we are playing seven matches and we take them one after the other,” he explained.

He added that the team’s lone defeat so far is not a cause for concern, noting the quality of opposition they faced. “Although we have lost one, it’s still a good result. The team that we lost to are a good side, so it’s still a good one,” he said.

In Wednesday’s men’s fixtures, Nigeria Police defeated Ajase Ipo 3-1 (19-25, 22-25, 23-25, 15-25), while CNS Spikers overpowered Sunshine Spikers in straight sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-17). In another encounter, Kano Pillars recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Offa VC (25-15, 25-17, 25-23).

The standout women’s match saw Customs Volleyball Team defeat NSCDC Volleyball Team 3-1 in a tightly contested encounter, wrapping up Day 3 action of the Customs Comptroller General Premier Volleyball League.

The sets ended 25-17, 25-13, 20-25, and 25-18, with Maryam Ibrahim of Customs named Most Valuable Player of the match.
