President Federation Cup moves to national stage as NFF confirms 37 entries
Nigeria’s oldest football competition is set for its next chapter after the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have been successfully registered for the 2026 President Federation Cup.
The development follows the conclusion of state finals held nationwide over the weekend of April 25 and 26, bringing the grassroots phase of the tournament to a close.
With champions now crowned across the country, the focus shifts to Abuja, where the national draw will soon determine matchups for the next stage. Before the main competition kicks off, attention will turn to a National Playoff round.
This preliminary phase will see lower ranked teams battle for a limited number of spots in the Round of 64, where they will join seeded sides, including some of Nigeria’s biggest clubs.
The transition to the national phase signals the start of a more intense battle for silverware, as teams from different tiers converge with a shared ambition of lifting one of the country’s most prestigious trophies.
The tournament continues to provide a rare platform where emerging sides can challenge established teams on a national stage.
