President Tinubu Appoints New Service Chiefs in Major Military Shake-Up

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a major overhaul of Nigeria’s military command, appointing a new slate of Service Chiefs as part of ongoing efforts to reinforce the nation’s security framework.

 General Olufemi Oluyede has been named Chief of Defence Staff, taking over from General Christopher Musa. Major-General W. Shaibu becomes the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Vice Marshal S. K. Aneke has been appointed Chief of Air Staff. Rear Admiral I. Abbas will now serve as Chief of Naval Staff. Major-General E. A. P. Undiendeye retains his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence. President Tinubu praised the outgoing military leaders, including former CDS General Musa, for their dedication and service to the country.

 He urged the incoming Service Chiefs to justify the confidence placed in them and to deepen the professionalism, vigilance and unity of the Armed Forces.
