Rafiu Durosinmi scores as Genk beat Kortrijk in Belgian Pro League
Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi continued his impressive start to the season after scoring in KRC Genk’s 3-0 victory over Kortrijk in the Belgian Pro League on Saturday evening.
The Super Eagles forward netted Genk’s third goal in their Matchday 8 encounter at the Cegeka Arena, helping the hosts secure a comfortable win against visitors who finished the match with 10 men.
Durosinmi’s latest strike takes his tally to six goals in eight appearances this season, underlining his growing influence since joining the Belgian side.
The 23-year-old found the net in the 63rd minute, finishing neatly from inside the penalty area to put the result beyond doubt for the Pride of Limburg.
Genk made a flying start to the encounter, with Daan Heymans opening the scoring with a superb volley in the second minute. The hosts doubled their advantage in the 13th minute when Noah Adedeji-Sternberg’s effort deflected off Kortrijk defender Harrison Murray-Campbell and into the net for an own goal.
Kortrijk’s hopes of mounting a comeback suffered a further setback four minutes into the second half when winger Shandre Campbell received his second yellow card and was sent off.
Genk capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Durosinmi completing the scoring in the 63rd minute. The Nigerian forward was substituted in the 76th minute, making way for Aaron Bibout.
### Durosinmi Strengthens Case for Super Eagles Recall
Durosinmi’s consistent goalscoring form could strengthen his chances of returning to the Super Eagles squad after he was left out of Nigeria’s team for the recent international break.
The striker missed the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau but has continued to impress at club level.
With six goals in eight appearances, the former Viktoria Plzeň forward is building a strong case for another opportunity with the national team.
For now, Durosinmi will be focused on maintaining his scoring form and helping Genk achieve their objectives this season. Continued performances of this quality could put him firmly back in contention for a Super Eagles recall.
