Super Eagles attack roars as Osimhen, Lookman and Iheanacho find the net
Nigeria’s attacking stars delivered a powerful statement on Saturday night, with Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Kelechi Iheanacho all getting on the scoresheet for their respective clubs.
Osimhen continued his explosive start to the season in Turkey, scoring his fifth goal for Galatasaray in their thrilling 3-2 victory over Göztepe.
The Super Eagles striker calmly converted from the penalty spot after being brought down inside the box. He appeared to have doubled his tally later in the game, but the effort was ruled out for offside.
Osimhen still made a decisive contribution, providing an assist as Galatasaray held on to secure maximum points.
In Spain, Lookman finally opened his La Liga scoring account for Atlético Madrid, finding the net in their impressive 3-1 away victory over Sevilla.
The Nigerian winger doubled Atlético’s advantage in the 26th minute, putting the visitors firmly in control.
Lookman appeared to have scored again later in the match, but the effort was chalked off for offside.
It was nevertheless an encouraging performance from the Super Eagles forward as he continues to settle into life at Atlético Madrid.
In Turkey’s second tier, Kelechi Iheanacho continued his impressive resurgence, scoring and providing an assist in Bursaspor’s 2-1 comeback victory away to second-placed Kayserispor.
Iheanacho converted from the penalty spot in the 58th minute to bring Bursaspor level before setting up the winning goal, completing a superb individual performance.
The former Leicester City forward has now registered four goals and two assists in just four matches, placing him among the leading scorers in the Turkish second tier.
With Osimhen firing on all cylinders, Lookman finally off the mark in La Liga and Iheanacho rediscovering his scoring touch, Nigeria’s attacking stars are beginning to hit top form at a crucial stage of the season.
Their impressive club performances will provide a major boost to the Super Eagles as they prepare for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
