Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie nominated for 2025 Ballon d'Or Yachine Trophy
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has earned a prestigious nomination for the 2025 Ballon D’Or Awards, making the shortlist for the Women’s Yachine Trophy, an honour reserved for the best goalkeeper in women’s football.
The official list was released on Thursday, with the 24-year-old Nigerian shot-stopper recognized for her outstanding performances at both club and international levels over the past year.
Nnadozie, who recently signed with Brighton & Hove Albion Women, impressed during her time with Paris FC, helping the French side clinch the Coupe de France for the first time in two decades. Her heroics in the final included two decisive saves in a tense penalty shootout against Paris Saint-Germain, a performance that firmly cemented her status as one of the top goalkeepers in the game.
Her brilliance extended to the international stage, where she played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s victorious campaign at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. Nnadozie kept four clean sheets throughout the tournament, guiding the Super Falcons to a record-extending 10th continental title.
In recognition of her performances, she was named Best Goalkeeper of the tournament and earned a place in the WAFCON Team of the Tournament.
Nnadozie is one of five nominees for the Women’s Yachine Trophy. The other contenders are Ann-Katrin Berger (Germany), Cata Coll (Spain), Hannah Hampton (England), and Daphne van Domselaar (Netherlands).
The winner will be announced at the Ballon D’Or ceremony later this year.
