Taiwo Awoniyi makes instant Coventry City impact in Carabao Cup
Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi made an immediate impact for Coventry City, scoring and providing an assist as his new side defeated Plymouth Argyle 4-2 to advance to the third round of the Carabao Cup.
Awoniyi needed just three minutes to announce his presence, finding the back of the net to give Coventry an early lead and set the tone for an impressive cup performance.
The Nigerian striker turned provider two minutes later, setting up Coventry’s second goal as the hosts quickly established control of the encounter.
Coventry went on to secure a convincing 4-2 victory over Plymouth, sealing their passage into the third round of the competition.
The performance represents a dream start for Awoniyi, who completed his move to Coventry from fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest last week.
