Tobi Amusan claims Paris Diamond League crown

Nigeria's sprint hurdles queen, Tobi Amusan, continued her superb 2026 campaign with another dominant display, winning the women's 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League on Sunday in an equal season's best time of 12.27 seconds (+0.7m/s).

The former world record holder produced a commanding run to finish comfortably ahead of Grace Stark, who clocked 12.38 seconds, while Alaysha Johnson claimed third place in 12.39 seconds.

Amusan's latest triumph further highlights her consistency this season, with the Nigerian star now recording times in the 12.27-12.28 seconds range on three separate occasions in 2026. Her impressive form comes at a crucial stage of the athletics calendar as she builds momentum for major championships.

The victory also serves as a strong statement ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where Amusan is expected to defend the women's 100m hurdles title she won at the 2018 Gold Coast Games and successfully retained at Birmingham 2022.

Having recently been named in Nigeria's athletics squad for the Games, the reigning African star appears well on course to chase a historic third consecutive Commonwealth gold in her signature event.
