YSFON Ramat Cup: Kwara win big as quarter final take shape

 

Kwara State’s U-16 team delivered a resounding statement at the 40th edition of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) Ramat Cup International on Tuesday, dismantling Plateau State 9–1 to complete the group stage with a perfect record.

 

The emphatic win — the biggest margin of the tournament so far — followed earlier victories over hosts Nasarawa (4–2) and Sokoto (2–0), cementing Kwara’s status as title favourites in Lafia.

 

Nasarawa joined them in the last eight after a 2–0 win over Sokoto, securing second place in Group A with six points.

 

In Group B, Benue claimed top spot with a 3–0 victory over Gombe, who still progressed as runners-up. Bauchi and Ondo advanced from Group C, with Bauchi sealing a flawless group campaign by beating Ondo 3–0.

 

The final two quarter-final berths will be decided on Wednesday in Group D, where Kaduna and Enugu are tied on four points, Borno have three, and Zamfara remain without a point.

 

Quarter-final fixtures are set for Thursday, August 14, at the Lafia City Stadium:

 

Kwara vs Gombe – 9:00 a.m.

 

Benue vs Nasarawa – 10:00 a.m.

 

Bauchi vs Group D runners-up – 11:00 a.m.

 

Group D winners vs Ondo – 12:00 p.m.

 

Semi-finals will be held on Friday, with the third-place playoff and grand finale on Saturday.

 

The Ramat Cup honours the late Head of State, General Murtala Ramat Mohammed.
