CAF fixes November date for Women's Champions League

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set November 1–15, 2026, as the window for the Women’s Champions League, but the identity of one of the eight participating clubs remains unresolved following the controversy surrounding the WAFU B final.

The dates were approved during a virtual meeting of the CAF Executive Committee chaired by President Patrice Motsepe on Friday, October 2, with the continental body moving ahead with preparations for the fifth edition of its premier women’s club competition.

Defending champions AS FAR of Morocco will lead the field as they seek to retain their continental crown. They will be joined by Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, USFAS Bamako of Mali, Kawempe Muslim Ladies of Uganda, Lekié FF of Cameroon and FUS Rabat of Morocco, while two qualification slots are still to be completed.

The biggest uncertainty surrounds the WAFU B representative, with Nigeria’s Edo Queens and Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa still locked in a qualification dispute. Edo Queens had initially emerged victorious after a penalty shootout, but CAF subsequently ruled that the required 30 minutes of extra time had not been played before the shootout.

Consequently, CAF has ordered the decisive fixture to resume from extra time with the score level at 2-2.

The unusual development has left the WAFU B ticket unresolved, meaning the November tournament has a confirmed calendar but is yet to know the full identity of its eight team field.
