The tournament, which ended on Saturday, November 7, produced record-breaking goals, outstanding individual performances and several milestones as Nigeria defeated Japan 2-1 in the final to claim their first-ever title.
Here are some of the remarkable statistics and records from the competition.
2,900 – Nigeria end DPR Korea’s unbeaten run
Nigeria inflicted DPR Korea’s first regulation-time defeat at the finals in 2,900 days. The Asian powerhouse had last lost in regulation time when Germany defeated them 4-1 at Uruguay 2018 before embarking on an 18-match unbeaten run.
202 – New goalscoring record
The tournament had produced 202 goals before the final, setting a new record for the competition. The previous highest tally was 175 at Morocco 2025, with this year's edition surpassing that figure during the quarter-finals.
It also became the first FIFA women's 11-a-side tournament to record more than 200 goals.
97 – Seconds between DPR Korea’s final goals
Just 97 seconds separated DPR Korea’s fifth and sixth goals in their 6-0 bronze-medal victory over Brazil. Yu Jong-hyang scored after being played through before setting up Ri Kyong-im to complete the scoring.
77 – Bashiru’s minutes before her breakthrough
Awawu Bashiru had played just 77 minutes, all as a substitute, before earning a starting place in Nigeria’s semi-final against Brazil.
She responded with a brace in the 3-1 victory before scoring the opening goal in the final against Japan, playing a crucial role in the Flamingos’ historic triumph.
44 – End of the goalless streak
The tournament's 44-match run without a 0-0 draw ended when China PR defeated France on penalties in the Round of 16.
The previous goalless match at the competition was Mexico’s quarter-final victory over Italy on penalties at Morocco 2025.
29 – DPR Korea set new scoring record
DPR Korea scored a record 29 goals at the tournament, surpassing their previous record of 25 goals at Morocco 2025.
The Asian champions moved ahead of the United States, who had scored 27 goals in this edition, following their 6-0 victory over Brazil in the bronze-medal match. It was the fourth time they had scored six goals in a single match during the tournament.
17 – USA record biggest-ever FIFA 11-a-side victory
The United States’ 17-0 victory over Samoa remains the biggest win ever recorded at an 11-a-side FIFA tournament.
16 – Yu Jong-hyang finishes as record goalscorer
DPR Korea’s Yu Jong-hyang scored twice against Poland in the group stage to surpass Deyna Castellanos’ previous record of 12 goals and become the competition’s all-time leading scorer.
She finished Morocco 2026 with 16 goals, two more than her closest challenger.
16 – Shirai becomes tournament’s most experienced coach
Japan coach Sadayoshi Shirai became the all-time record appearance holder at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup during the final against Nigeria.
However, his landmark occasion ended in disappointment as Japan lost 2-1 to the Flamingos.
14 – Reyes sets appearance record
Mexico’s Citlalli Reyes became the competition’s all-time appearance leader, finishing with 14 matches. She also scored the winning goal in Mexico’s 1-0 victory over Australia.
DPR Korea’s Eh Chong-gum, Kim Son-gyong, Ri Kyong-im and Yu Jong-hyang, as well as Brazil’s Pepe, later joined her on 14 appearances.
14 – DPR Korea maintain remarkable scoring consistency
At least one of Kim Won-sim, Ri Ui-gyong or Yu Jong-hyang scored in all 14 matches DPR Korea played across Morocco 2025 and Morocco 2026.
The trio maintained the record-breaking run from their opening victory over Mexico at the previous edition until the bronze-medal match against Brazil, when all three found the net in the 6-0 win.
1 – Nigeria achieve historic first
Nigeria became the first African nation to reach the final of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup and the first team to win the title after losing their opening match.
The Flamingos recovered from their 2-1 defeat to Poland in their opening fixture to overcome every subsequent challenge, eventually beating Japan 2-1 in the final.
0 – European teams miss out on the quarter-finals
Morocco 2026 became the first edition of the competition without a European team reaching the quarter-finals.
France, Germany, Poland and Spain were all eliminated in the Round of 16. It was also the first tournament in which no European team finished on the podium.
The records and milestones further underlined the historic nature of Morocco 2026, with Nigeria’s maiden title and DPR Korea’s impressive scoring feats among the standout achievements of the competition.
