AFCON 2025: Morocco's matches sold out within an hour

Tickets for Morocco’s group-stage matches at the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) have sold out within just one hour of release, underlining the nation’s immense football passion and the unprecedented anticipation for the tournament.

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) confirmed that all three of the Atlas Lions’ group-stage fixtures were completely sold out in less than 60 minutes — setting a new record for ticket demand in African football history.

This comes amid a broader ticketing rush, with more than 250,000 tickets reportedly sold within 72 hours of becoming available.

The surge in demand reflects Morocco’s continued rise on the global football stage.

Following their historic run to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the first by an African nation, Morocco has cemented its reputation as a football powerhouse.

The North African nation’s sustained investment in infrastructure, modern stadiums, and youth development has positioned it as a model for excellence within the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Fans from across the continent and beyond are expected to pack Morocco’s state-of-the-art arenas in December, as the Atlas Lions aim to crown their football renaissance with a long-awaited continental triumph.

The record-breaking ticket sales highlight Morocco’s central role in African football’s revival and raise expectations that AFCON 2025 will be one of the best-organized and most attended editions in the tournament’s history.
