Atlético Madrid have confirmed that newly signed forward Ademola Lookman will wear the No. 22 jersey at the club following his arrival from Italian side Atalanta.

The La Liga giants on Monday announced the signing of the Super Eagles star on a long-term deal that runs until June 30, 2030. Atlético secured Lookman’s services for an initial fee of €35 million, with a further €5 million in performance-related bonuses.

The Nigeria international was officially unveiled to the Spanish media on Tuesday, with the club also revealing his squad number. Lookman has already settled quickly into life in Madrid, with training footage showing him working alongside his new teammates and holding early discussions with head coach Diego Simeone.

The 28-year-old joins Atlético after an impressive three-and-a-half-year spell at Atalanta, where he scored 55 goals and provided 27 assists in 137 appearances across all competitions.

He was a central figure in Atalanta’s historic UEFA Europa League triumph, famously scoring a remarkable hat-trick in the 3–0 final victory over Bayer Leverkusen to secure the club’s first major trophy.

Lookman could make his Atlético Madrid debut as early as Thursday, February 5, when Diego Simeone’s side take on Real Betis in the quarter-final of the Copa del Rey.
