Barau FC strengthen squad with 14 new signings
Barau Football Club have bolstered their squad with the signing of 14 players as the Kano-based side prepares for the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Maliya Boys unveiled the new arrivals in a video shared on the club's official YouTube channel, shortly after confirming their retained squad. The latest additions come as Barau look to improve on an impressive eighth-place finish in their debut top-flight campaign.
Among the headline signings are midfielder Ahmadu Liman from Niger Tornadoes and Kumaga Suur from Lobi Stars, who reunite with head coach Eugene Agagbe after previously working together at Lobi.
The club also secured the services of Stephen Wisdom and Kennedy Etunuya Energy from relegated Bayelsa United, while Nasiru Jibrin joins from Wikki Tourists.
Young forward Boluwatife Ajina arrives from ABS, goalkeeper Adamu Abubakar joins from Gombe United, while Idris Saidu (Niger Tornadoes), Adekunle Oluwasegun (Nasarawa United), Casmir Azubuike (Abia Warriors), Anthony Omaka (Rivers United) and Elvis Obukowho (Warri Wolves) also strengthen the squad.
Completing the list are Alameen Umar and Christian Maduka, who return to Nigerian football after spells in Egypt and Albania respectively.
Speaking in the unveiling video, several of the new recruits expressed their determination to help Barau challenge for the NPFL title or secure a continental ticket in the upcoming campaign.
With fresh reinforcements in place, Barau FC will be aiming to build on their encouraging maiden season when the 2026/27 NPFL season gets underway on the weekend of August 28–30.
