Kebbi Fishers Beach Soccer Club have reclaimed the Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) title after defeating Kada Beach Soccer Club in a decisive final-day encounter at the Murtala Muhammed Square in Kaduna.

The triumph sees Kebbi Fishers return to the summit of Nigerian beach soccer after surrendering the championship to Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors in 2025.

The Birnin Kebbi-based side entered the 2026 NBSL Super Four with an impressive pedigree, having previously won the national title in 2021, 2023 and 2024. Their latest triumph adds a fourth championship to their record. 

Kada, meanwhile, went into the Super Four as the regular-season leaders after completing the campaign unbeaten with 16 points from six matches. The Kaduna-based side also boasted the league’s best defensive record, conceding only nine goals while scoring 31. 

The championship was therefore decided in an intriguing contest between two sides with contrasting momentum, Kada’s unbeaten regular-season run against Kebbi Fishers’ experience of winning at the business end of the competition.

Kebbi had opened their Super Four campaign with a 5-2 victory over Niger Beach Soccer Club, recovering from a 2-2 scoreline before producing three unanswered goals to secure the points.

Taiwo Adams and Hassan Abdullahi scored twice each in that opening victory, while captain Ekene Obi completed the scoring for Kebbi. 

Kada also began the Super Four strongly, defeating Ibom Beach Soccer Club 4-2 after establishing a 3-0 lead before withstanding a second-half fightback.

Tanko Emmanuel scored twice for Kada, with Dozie Frank and James Mamman also finding the net in the victory. 

The Super Four was played in a round-robin format involving Kebbi Fishers, Kada, Niger BSC and Ibom BSC, with each club scheduled to play three matches before the champions were determined by their overall record. 

For Kebbi Fishers, the victory represents a return to the top after last year’s disappointment and further strengthens their status as the most successful club in the competition since its establishment.

Their 2026 championship also maintains a remarkable record of consistency, having appeared in every NBSL Super Finals since 2021 and finished among the top three in each of their previous five appearances. 

Kada’s defeat, meanwhile, ended their unbeaten regular-season campaign and denied the hosts the opportunity to convert their strong league performance into a championship triumph on home sand.

The Kaduna finals also featured a women’s beach soccer tournament, while an exhibition encounter between NBSL All-Stars and SWAN All-Stars was scheduled as part of the final-day activities. 

Beyond the title race, the Super Four provided an important platform for national team coaches to assess players ahead of Nigeria’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Ghana. 

Kebbi Fishers’ latest success therefore closes the 2026 NBSL season with the club back at the summit, reclaiming the crown and adding another chapter to their growing history as Nigeria’s leading beach soccer force.
