NWFL stands firm on registration deadline, warn clubs lagging behind
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has issued a stern reminder to Premiership clubs yet to complete their digital registration and licensing processes, insisting that the November 22 deadline remains non-negotiable and that the new season will kick off on November 26 as scheduled.
According to the league body, Castmog Ladies, Osun Babes, and Naija Ratels are among the teams still behind on mandatory documentation, despite repeated notifications.
As part of its drive to professionalise women’s football in Nigeria, all registration and licensing procedures are now processed through the league’s digital portal, ensuring greater transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency.
NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, urged the outstanding clubs to urgently finalize their submissions, stressing that the deadline will not be shifted.
“The digital registration and licensing process is designed to ensure every club meets the minimum professional standards required to compete,” Shabi said.
“We expect full compliance before the November 22 deadline. Any club that fails to meet these financial and administrative obligations will face the consequences as outlined in our regulations. Our commitment is to run a credible, properly structured league.”
The NWFL reaffirmed its readiness to enforce all regulatory provisions as it works toward a smooth start to the new season and the continued integrity of the competition.
