FG Declares April 18th, 21st Easter Holidays, Calls for National Unity
The Federal Government has officially designated Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, as public holidays in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, allowing Nigerians to celebrate the Christian festivities.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, via a statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
“Announcing this on behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo extended heartfelt congratulations to Christians across the country on this joyous occasion,” the statement read.
The minister underscored the spiritual significance of Easter, highlighting the sacrifice and love exemplified by Jesus Christ. He emphasised that these values should inspire Nigerians to reflect on their roles in building a more united and peaceful nation.
He also called on Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of the nation. He reassured citizens of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to foster national growth and development.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to spread the Easter spirit by showing love, kindness, and generosity to their neighbours and communities. He concluded by wishing all Christians a joyful Easter celebration and extended warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
