Michelle Alozie shortlisted for 2025 FIFPRO Women's Best XI
Super Falcons defender Michelle Alozie has been named among the nominees for the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World XI, a recognition that places her among the best footballers in the world.
Alozie, who dazzled at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and continues to shine for Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), joins a star-studded lineup of global talents vying for a place in the prestigious team voted for by players worldwide.
According to FIFPRO, the 26 players on the shortlist received the highest number of votes from fellow professionals, based on performances between August 11, 2024, and August 3, 2025.
The recognition caps off an exceptional year for Alozie, who played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s WAFCON campaign, most notably scoring the decisive goal in the Super Falcons’ semi-final win over Banyana Banyana of South Africa. Her consistent and commanding displays earned her a place in the Team of the Tournament.
Alozie is one of seven defenders shortlisted for the World XI, alongside Lucy Bronze, Millie Bright, and Alex Greenwood (England), Olga Carmona and Ona Batlle (Spain), and Ellie Carpenter (Australia).
Her inclusion further cements her reputation as one of Africa’s most dynamic and dependable full-backs and a symbol of Nigerian excellence on the global stage.
