Saraki Condemns Eruku Abduction, Urges Federal Government to Act
Former Governor of Kwara State, Bukola Saraki, has condemned the abduction of several residents of Eruku town, describing the incident as a “terrorist attack” that disrupted the peace of the community.
Saraki, in a statement posted on Instagram on November 19, said the attack left some residents injured while others were taken away by the assailants. He expressed sympathy to the victims and their families, praying for healing and strength as they navigate what he called a difficult period.
He called on the Federal Government and security agencies to act swiftly to secure the release of those abducted and to strengthen security architecture in Eruku and across Kwara State.
“I call on the Federal Government, particularly the heads of our security agencies, to urgently act to ensure that the kidnapped victims of this sad incident regain their freedom and return home safely to their loved ones. I also enjoin the security agencies to put a solid arrangement in place that will secure Eruku town, in particular, and all parts of Kwara State,” he said.
Saraki noted that Kwara State serves as a gateway between Nigeria’s northern and southern regions, a strategic position he said makes enhanced security measures imperative.
“The state is one of the gateways into the country and a link between the southern and northern parts. This makes it deserving of a special security arrangement that will not jeopardise our national interest and internal peace,” he stated.
He concluded with a prayer for national peace, asking for divine intervention against those he described as “waging war against Nigeria.”
