Niger Tornadoes FC are set to establish a women’s team, Tornadoes Queens FC, before January 2027 as part of efforts to promote women’s participation and create greater opportunities for female footballers in Niger State.

 The Chairman of the club, Abubakar Kuso, disclosed this during a strategic Football Stakeholders’ Meeting held to strengthen unity, collaboration and collective efforts towards the development of football in the state.

 The meeting brought together key stakeholders from across Niger State, including officials of the Niger State Football Association, football administrators, coaches, club representatives, supporters and other important figures within the game.

 Addressing the gathering, Kuso stressed the need for collective responsibility in repositioning football in Niger State, noting that sustainable progress would require unity, cooperation and continuous engagement among stakeholders.

 He reaffirmed the commitment of the Niger Tornadoes management to professionalism, grassroots development, talent identification and initiatives aimed at strengthening the football structure across the state.

 Kuso also revealed that plans are already at an advanced stage for the establishment of Tornadoes Queens FC, which is expected to participate in the women’s league.

 According to him, the initiative is designed to give women a greater sense of belonging in football while providing a platform for female players in the state to develop their talents and compete at a higher level.

 The stakeholders’ meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to discuss major issues affecting football in Niger State, particularly those relating to Niger Tornadoes, and to propose practical measures for moving the game forward.

 Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes have played five matches so far this season, recording one victory and two draws at home. Away from home, the club have suffered one defeat and secured one draw.
