Nigeria Volleyball League Phase One serves off August 11 in Abuja

The Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium will come alive from August 11–19, 2025, as it hosts the National Volleyball League Division 1 & 2 Phase One.

Organised by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) in partnership with the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff, the event will showcase Nigeria’s top volleyball clubs alongside a new wave of emerging talent.

The week-long competition will feature Division 1 elite contenders and ambitious Division 2 teams battling for early points, momentum, and bragging rights ahead of the league’s second phase later this year.

Opening Day Schedule

The build-up begins on Monday, August 11, with the official technical meeting, during which fixtures will be drawn, schedules finalised, and competition protocols outlined.

Matches begin the following day, promising fierce rivalries, tactical battles, and high-energy action on the court.

Momentum from International Success

This year’s league opener comes on the heels of Nigeria’s impressive performance at the 2025 CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Championship, which wrapped up in Abuja last Thursday.

The Nigerian girls’ teams dominated, winning gold and silver, while the boys claimed bronze behind gold medalists The Gambia.

The event earned praise for its youthful energy, flawless organisation, and vibrant atmosphere—qualities the NVBF is eager to replicate in this indoor edition.
